A new ‘Women Only’ space is launching in Ryde this month, offering a calm, welcoming environment for women aged 18 and over across the Isle of Wight.
The initiative, created by Rodger & Steve’s Place, will provide a safe space for women to drop in for a hot drink, sit in peace or talk without any judgement or pressure.
Founder Karl Hart has said the move builds on the work already done to support men on the Isle of Wight but aims to expand that help to local women who may feel they have nowhere else to turn.
Karl Hart, Founder, has said:
“I’ve long felt that, as an organisation, we could do more. Over the last 3 years, the outstanding team at Rodger & Steve’s Place and I have been privileged to support men who have often felt they had nowhere else to turn.
“I am immensely proud of every single man who has crossed our threshold, found support, made new friends, or simply sat in peace for a while. But I still believe we can go further.
“So, after speaking with the team, I’m proud to announce the soft launch of Women Only – a calm, welcoming space created for women aged 18 and over on the Isle of Wight.
“Women Only is about providing a quiet space where women can be seen, heard, and supported – without pressure, form-filling or judgment. Our ethos, drafted from listening to those who use our service, underpins every session, every welcome, and every hot cup of tea.”

Women Only will be open at 133 High Street, Ryde, PO33 2RJ on:
- Monday: 09:00 – 12:00
- Wednesday: 12:00 – 16:00
- Friday: 16:00 – 20:00
The space is staffed by experienced volunteers and welcomes women with or without children, recognising how hard it can be to access support when juggling other responsibilities. No appointment is needed and the service is free of charge.
The Women Only pilot begins on Monday (14th July) with the future of the project shaped by feedback from local women.
