A new Isle of Wight branch of Screwfix has quietly opened at Spithead Business Centre in Lake.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Screwfix unveiled plans back in April to open a 2nd Island branch at the site of the former Tile Superstores and Isle Jump trampoline park buildings.
Work then began in August, with signs appearing on Heras fencing outside the building advertising that the trade supplies store was ‘coming soon’.
Now, the branch has finally opened with little fanfare and publicity, maintaining Screwfix’s tight-lipped approach to the opening of its new Island branch.
It was back in March that Island Echo initially heard of these plans but the rumours weren’t confirmed until an official application was subsequently made to the Isle of Wight Council.
At the time, a spokesperson for Screwfix said:
“As we continue to grow our store network we will announce details about each new store, including planned dates for opening, in due course. Customers can find up to date store information on Screwfix.com“.
The opening hours for the new branch are the same as the Newport branch on the Dodnor Industrial estate, which opened 11 years ago.
They are 07:00-20:00 Monday to Friday, 07:00-18:00 on Saturdays and 09:00-16:00 on Sundays.

This is FANTASTIC news – had no idea! And breaks the monopolies of the likes of super-expensive Jewson in this area who close at 5. I’m delighted. Good luck to all concerned. Choice is everything.
more queuing and wasting time because the computer systems don’t work properly and show incorrect stock then.
Bit of a weird prediction. I assume that this happened to you once and you now expect it to be the norm.
not happened to me at all, just everyone else has told me this, so I don’t go there, simple really.
Well I can tell you that it never happened to me. Bet that has ruined your wonky mental model.
Called Screwfix, but don’t even sell screws smh
I thought it was a dating agency.
You need to look at their catalogue again. I bought all the screws I needed for my deck from them. Cheapest on the Island from stock, no waiting
