Sandown’s Los Altos Park could be getting some new play equipment following the submission of a planning proposal to the Isle of Wight Council.
The application, submitted by Sandown Town Council, proposes the installation of 8 pieces of wooden play equipment, designed to form a trail.
Within the planning document, it states that the area around each piece of equipment will be leveled, excavated to form foundations for the equipment and prepared for safety surfacing. All equipment will be made from timber and have a free space of 1.5m around it.
The proposed play equipment will include; a balance and weave beam, chin up bars, monkey bars, static balance beam, stepping logs, striding timber stilts and a rising ladder.
Building of the equipment will be undertaken by Scottish-based play equipment specialists Caledonia Play Ltd.
There is no indication of how much the installation will cost, or when – if it is approved – works will be completed.
Ahhhh, replacing the equipment that was installed in Los Altos about 30 years ago, and this will also remain unused for the next 30 years! What a waste of money!

This is a great idea, at long last. The park has been a wasted asset for far too long. Maybe some seating, or felled tree logs could be organised too?
