A new family-run coffee house, The Fluffy Pumpkin, has opened up in the heart of East Cowes.
Located on the corner of York Avenue and Castle Street in what used to be the Cassanova barbers, the coffee house opened for the first time on Monday 14th April.
The establishment offers various items including; baguettes, sandwiches, jacket potatos, paninis, bagels, muffins, cakes and much more. Various hot and cold drinks are on offer too.
A number of the sweet treats/cakes on offer are supplied by Kerry at Wight Bakes.
Over the fast few months a complete internal overhaul/renovation has taken place.
Taking to their Facebook page, a spokesperson from The Fluffy Pumpkin has said:
“After all the madness, hard work, late nights, blood, sweat & taste testing, we are open and ready to go. Come by say hi & buy some cake of course
“Thanks again to all our friends & family for all their help.”
The Fluffy Pumpkin is dog friendly and is open 09:00 – 16:00 Monday to Saturday.
What the island needs is a coffee shop not
Charging £3.75+ for a coffee
This is the Isle of Wight, not the big smoke.
You can’t make a living selling coffee at £1 a cup…
Depends what coffee they are using.
Take a typical instant coffee
Spoon of coffee with some milk it does not cost
no more than 10p to make, even if they use bean to
cup doesn’t cost more than 30p
Too many businesses are charging more for a
coffee than some pubs charge for a pint of beer.
Take Busy Bee for example. I use to buy a large
flat white £2.95, over the last month they have increased
it by 27% to £3.75
Why such an increase? I tell you why, businesses
are greedy.
I now pop to Tesco fuel station and grab a
meal deal which includes a large Costa coffee
with a sandwich and snack for less than the price
of a coffee.
Greedy businesses loss is my gain.
Are the prices going to be high end or a price that we can all afford
Well said, if not we can buy meals deals for £3.50
which includes a Costa coffee, Sandwich and snack
Raised prices because of raised costs including rent fuel and employment, your paying for a service. Take a flask on your walks and pack a sandwich, wholemeal of course with a filling of your choice.
How many cafe’s can East Cowes sustain as a matter of interest?
