New Carnival, a long-standing arts council ‘national portfolio organisation’ (NPO), is calling for passionate individuals to join its board of directors.
With a mission to engage communities, foster a sense of pride, and deliver exciting arts projects, New Carnival is looking for diverse voices and skilled professionals to guide the organisation as it continues its work in outdoor arts and education.
For over 10 years, New Carnival has played a vital role in bringing people together through inclusive and creative experiences. As a female-led organisation, New Carnival is committed to maintaining its founding values: carnival for all, an accessible space where everyone can explore their creativity and build their confidence.
New Carnival is seeking board members with expertise in a variety of areas, including but not limited to:
- Education
- Finance
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Performance Arts
- Arts & Culture
- Fashion
- Community Engagement
- Carnival
- Heritage
- Funding
This voluntary board position requires commitment to attend four quarterly board meetings per year, along with approximately 5-8 hours per month for various duties. These may include assisting with long-term strategy, fundraising, event attendance, and community engagement. Board members are also encouraged to participate in research, stewarding, and support the overall direction of New Carnival. In addition to meetings, New Carnival offers networking opportunities, training courses, and the occasional trips.
New Carnival is committed to supporting its board members, offering reimbursement for travel costs and providing refreshments during meetings and events.
