NAUT Cycling Club & Race Team’s Casey Byrne and Rollo Dixon took on the Velo Club Venta Road Race on Sunday (27th April), racing on the fast and hilly Crawley circuit near Winchester.
A solo rider broke away early and was joined by others, forming a group that stayed clear to the end. Rollo initially sat mid-pack before moving forward to help chase down attacks, while Casey made a decisive move midway through the race, bridging across to a second breakaway group.
Rollo Dixon has said:
“I tried a sneak sprint into the uphill finish but ran out of steam. Still, a really enjoyable race!”
Casey Byrne added:
“I cramped badly on the final climb and had to settle for 13th, but I’m really happy with how it went.”
The riders praised Velo Club Venta for a well-run event and thanked Red Funnel for travel support. Both have already marked the race down for next year.
