Emergency services are currently searching for a missing Stoke-on-Trent man in the West Wight area tonight (Monday).
An appeal was posted on social media just before 21:00 by a concerned friend, who said Kai had not been seen in over a day and his friends and family are becoming increasingly concerned.
The post states:
“I am looking for a missing man called Kai, not been seen in 28 hours, excuse the prawn, me and my mate had a great meal when I dropped him off, me and all his friends and family very worried.”
It is understood that Kai is from Stoke-on-Trent but has been on a course on the island.
Police have been carrying out enquiries with no prevail and as such have requested the assistance of the Isle of Wight Search and Rescue team (WightSAR) to conduct a land search in the Totland, Freshwater and Yarmouth area.
Needles Coastguard Rescue Team and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team are also currently assisting in the search.
The National Police Air Service helicopter has also been scrambled to conduct an aerial search of the local area.
UPDATE @ 07:05 – Search efforts overnight have failed to locate Kai.
Enquiries continue.
Police are yet to issue an official appeal.
