An unresponsive casualty near Totland Bay prompted a multi-agency response to the West Wight this evening (Monday).
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the remote location, along with the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service’s Co-Responder from Freshwater, at around 19:30.
Multiple Police units were also present on scene.
Due to the remote location of the young male – within thick woodland and undergrowth above a sea wall – the assistance of HM Coastguard was called upon at 19:22. Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to the incident.
Once emergency services arrived on the scene it was made apparent that the casualty had become conscious.
Needles Coastguard Rescue Team set up and carried out a rope rescue on a 55-degree incline to get the casually to firmer ground.
The young male was successfully rescued and passed to the care of the awaiting ambulance before being conveyed to St Mary’s Hosptial by land.
Crews stood down from the incident just as the sun proceeded to set on another warm summers evening.
Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were back on station shortly before 21:00.

Have you had a few aswell??
Charming sun set photograph. Can’t quite discern just why these fellows keep ending up in remote locations though?
Either falling off cliffs, or breaking legs and arms on beaches, or lost in woodland and crashing their cars into walls and trees. I imagine they are copying that Ray Meers chap, or the local guy from Bembridge, Lady Grills son, who they call Bear.
Why don’t they just take a stroll along the Promenade like normal people instead of all this Tom foolery and horse play, costing us all money?
Firstly I hope the young man makes a speedy recovery…..Embarrassing when your either trying to provoke a response or look
Like your “down with the kids”and all you end up looking like is a keyboard warrior of the troll kind and people offering their sympathy’s for A)hot weather for Trolls must overheat in cupboard under stairs and B)just the one cell knocking about in an empty vacuum between your shoulder blades…nice try better luck next time
