Monkey Haven in Staplers Road near Newport has just welcomed a new wild barn owl to its sanctuary. After being rescued and taken to the vet for a check-over, it has now arrived at the Haven for some respite and rehabilitation. The barn owl still has some baby fluff attached to the tips of its feathers which indicates it’s still a youngster. Although it has been checked by the vet, it is still very underweight – more than likely struggling to hunt for food, due to the recent stormy weather. Initially, the barn owl arrived lying down, but it is now comfortable perching upright. Monkey Haven has said:
“We will keep you updated, and we continue to keep everything crossed for a successful recovery, good weight gain, and a hopeful release for this beautiful owl soon.”
