Police are investigating a break-in at a petrol filling station in East Cowes after thieves smashed their way into the premises during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Officers were called at around 00:30 following reports of a burglary at Osborne Garage on York Avenue, near Osborne House.
The front glass of the kiosk’s door was smashed during the incident, triggering the shop’s alarm system, which was sounding when police arrived.
Alcohol and a quantity of vapes were stolen, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed.
Enquiries into the break-in remain ongoing. No arrests have been made.
The damaged doorway has since been boarded up, with a notice placed in the window reading: ‘closed due to break in. Be open once it has been cleared up. thank you’.
