UPDATED: Emergency services are responding to a road traffic collision on Middle Road at Calbourne this afternoon (Friday).
A car has left the carriageway and gone into the trees near to Calbourne Water Mill on the B3399 between Calbourne and Chessell.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is understood to have been called to assist 1 female casualty.
Motorists should avoid the area for the time being. The road has been closed in both directions.
UPDATE @ 13:31 – 2 occupants of a Citroen are receiving medical attention by paramedics as a result of the single-vehicle collision.
UPDATE @ 14:11 – A hard road closure has been put in place either side of the incident. The road is expected to remain closed for sometime.
UPDATE @ 16:00 – Middle Road has now re-opened to traffic in both directions.
Editor’s Footnote: It was initially reported that the female casualty was driving the vehicle. It has since been confirmed that the female was a passenger.
