Island mental health charity Men Only have begun creating their new ‘mobile mental health hub’ that will be used to tour the Island.
Men Only are a men’s mental health support group located on the Isle of Wight, who over the last year have organised fortnightly walk and talk meet-ups, social evenings, and a well-received Dad’s group, just to name a few.
For the last few months, the group has tried but failed to secure a permanent home, and after many fruitless failings, has decided to try something new. Having secured a former mobile office, they will now attempt to turn it into a mobile men’s mental health hub capable of travelling the Island.
Men Only provide groups and 1-to-1 opportunities for men to feel supported without being judged and heard without being lectured. Our men make friends and help others in the group to feel connected.
Male suicide rates are high. Over 76% of reported suicides are by men, 3 times more than women, three-quarters of people reported missing are men, and at least 1 in 8 men has a common mental health problem.
There is still a significant gap in the mental services offering men support through listening and talking, and Men Only can help to fill that gap.
The Men Only mobile mental health hub can support a positive and life-changing effect on men and their families, maybe even be life-saving. It can offer a safe, non-judgmental space, encouraging men to talk, and by travelling to those that need us, we can make it easier for men to ask for help or chat.
The group has already secured some funding to help start the project; However, they need to do quite a bit of work on the vehicle before using it, but have received offers of help from local businesses and volunteers willing to come along and help.
They have started a GoFundMe page at https://gofund.me/39e630c8.

What a good idea, i think that i would benefit from a bit of that.
No pesky cat ladies with there constant f’n drivall.
Well said Ting, its mainly women that cause all the problems anyway.
I know that they send me around the bend.
When a relationship falls apart, it’s the bloke that gets kicked out even when it was the woman that cheated. Men are disposable, time that we get the care we deserve. We do, after all, pay for most of everything.
