A 24-year-old man from London was tasered after assaulting a Police officer and resisting arrest in Newport on Friday night.
Police were called at 21:25 to reports of a serious assault on Portland Street in the town after a 36-year-old woman was assaulted causing a serious injury to her elbow.
Hampshire Constabulary also received a report of criminal damage within an address on Portland Street, as well as a public order offence.
Officers located the suspect, a 24-year-old man from London, on Trafalgar Road. The man assaulted a police officer and resisted arrest. Taser was deployed to gain compliance.
The man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, resisting arrest and failing to comply with a court order.
He has been released on bail as enquiries continue.
Released on bail so he can do it again
