A man in his 20s has sustained a fractured eye socket after being assaulted in Ryde during the early hours of this morning (Friday).
As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called at just before 00:30 to a report of an assault on the Esplanade, Ryde – outside Jhoots Pharmacy.
Officers arrived on scene to discover a man lying injured on the floor, with a pool of blood evident beside him. It is said he had been punched in the face.
It has now been confirmed that the victim, a man in his 20s, has received treatment in hospital for a fractured eye socket.
Detectives are investigating the incident and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
No arrests have been made.
Cordons in the area have now been lifted.
