40-year-old Adam Karim Elsayed has been arrested, questioned and charged after allegedly being seen carrying a large kitchen knife through the streets of Shanklin yesterday (Monday).
Police were called by concerned members of the public at just before midday reporting that they had seen a man carrying a knife.
Officers were deployed to the area and soon arrested a man just off the High Street.
Now, Adam Karim Elsayed, of Landguard Manor Road, has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place.
He has been remanded in custody overnight and will appear before Magistrates in Portsmouth today.
Pity the the poor coppers that had to deal with that, but grateful they did, well done lads n lasses.
Magistrates Court from 3rd November reported on Island Echo: Adam Elsayed, 40, of Landguard Manor Road, Shanklin admitted 2 charges of theft from a shop to the total value of £403.30 from Tesco. He was ordered to pay £104.30 compensation and a fine of £120, as well as costs of £85 with a £34 surcharge.
Such piffling little fines with no prison sentence – of course he was laughing at the law and felt emboldened to go round armed with a large knife. Until there are punitive and effective punishments for crimes like this, we will see crime increasing and our communities becoming less safe.
Adam is very unwell he has never hurt anyone other than himself he is now in prison instead of hospital. How is that justice??Maybe if he’d received the appropriate help for his mental health this wouldn’t of happened.
