A man in his 70s has died in hospital after being found collapsed on a street in Newport last night (Saturday).
Police cordoned off Crocker Street between St James’ Street and Holyrood Street shortly after 22:00, as previously reported by Island Echo. The cordon was removed at 00:15 on Sunday morning.
Hampshire Constabulary have now confirmed that a man was found lying in the road in unknown circumstances. He was rushed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance, but later died.
The death is not being treated as suspicious. A file is being prepared for the coroner.
