The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are dealing with a fire at a residential property in Cowes this lunchtime (Tuesday).
2 appliances – 1 from Newport and 1 from Cowes – are in attendance at Mill Hill Road, where a fire has broke out in a porch.
Firefighters have escorted a man to safety, although it is unclear if he has been injured.
The alarm was raised at 12:50.
Crews are currently working to damp down the affected area and ventilate the property.
UPDATE @ 14:45 – It has been confirmed that a man and his dog were assisted from the property.
2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel were used to tackle the fire, with positive pressure ventilation used to clear the building of smoke.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the scene to check over the male occupant.
