An inebriated man has been detained by Police on Shanklin Seafront following an emergency call out for HM Coastguard.
Rescue teams responded to the Esplanade following reports of a person in the water shortly before 18:00.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team has responded to the incident, but officers have not been required to carry out any rescue.
The male at the centre of the alert has been detained and cuffed by Police.
HM Coastguard is now starting to stand down from the incident whilst Police await custody transport.
