UPDATED: A man has been taken to hospital tonight (Tuesday) after reportedly staggering into a Newport pub ‘covered in blood’.
The unusual incident is said to have occurred sometime before 21:00 at The Crispin in Newport High Street.
4 Police cars descended on the scene alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
It remains unclear at this time how the casualty came about his injuries and where those injuries were sustained, but Island Echo understands the incident is being treated as a suspected stabbing.
Officers are now present at St Mary’s Hospital where they are gathering evidence and collecting statements.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY – It has been confirmed that a man in his 20s was taken to St Mary’s Hospital last night, however his injuries are not life-threatening.
