Police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with an alleged sexual assault on an 18-year-old woman and the committing of an indecent act in front of 2 teenage girls in Ryde at the weekend.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the woman was walking along Upper Highland Road, Oakfield at around 15:30 on Sunday (3rd August) when a man riding a motorcycle approached her and grabbed her bottom before riding off.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary launched an appeal for information on Monday, with the Force now confirming that a man, from Ryde, has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.
The 26-year-old has also been arrested on suspicion of committing an act of outraging public decency. This relates to a separate incident on Saturday (2nd August), in which a man allegedly began touching himself inappropriately in front of a pair of 15-year-old girls before then making inappropriate remarks towards the girls.
Saturday’s incident is said to have occurred at around 20:15 on Park Road, Ryde – just a short distance from where Sunday’s incident took place.
He has been bailed until 6th November while further enquiries are carried out.
