A man arrested on suspicion of threatening a person with an offensive weapon during an incident that saw armed police deployed to Cowes earlier this week (Monday) has been bailed until July. As exclusively reported by Island Echo, a large response of almost 8 Police units raced through Northwood and onto Arctic Road in Cowes at around 09:45, following reports of a ‘domestic incident’. Once on scene, armed officers quickly set up post outside the residential address opposite Blake’s News, pointing guns at the front door. Shouting between Police and those inside was heard in the area for some 30 minutes before a male left the property and was immediately detained, searched and arrested at just gone 11:30. Island Echo understands that offensive weapon(s) were seized. It was confirmed that a 44-year-old man from Cowes had been arrested on suspicion of threatening a person with an offensive weapon. A charge of common assault has since been dropped. A 38-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene on suspicion of obstructing/resisting a constable in execution of their duty, however she has been released and will face no further action.
The 44-year-old male been bailed with conditions until 1st July.
