A 44-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after being stopped by Police in Havenstreet last night.
Officers from the Joint Operations Unit pulled a silver Toyota MR2 on Combley Road after their suspicions were roused.
A roadside breathe test was carried out, which the driver failed.
The local man was arrested on the spot and taken to Newport Police Station for processing.

Someone on here recently said the police never do anything in havenstreet it seems they were listening.
Stu, I think they were probably there as part of the Operation Holly purge but it just shows that if they were to apply greater traffic policing all year round they will catch more drunk and doped up drivers who are probably littering our roads because it’s easy to get away with it.
Yes shame that the conservatives didn’t think about this when cutting the police force.
