Police on the Isle of Wight are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a woman had a handbag snatched from her in the middle of Newport last week.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has launched a witness appeal following the incident in Church Litten’s rose garden on Thursday 21st September.
Police were called at 17:40 to reports that a woman in her 30s had her handbag, containing cash, snatched from her.
A 40-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed with conditions until 19h December while enquiries continue.
Officers believe there were a number of other members of the public in the area at the time of this incident who will have potentially seen what happened. Those people are being asked to come forward.

Companies these days collapse at a drop of the hat however secure they seem (just read what has happened over the weekend) so how on earth can you say unemployment and subsequent homelessness is self inflicted? Every time a company streamlines its workforce its employees – real people – lose their jobs and have to claim benefits. Some people seem to think that the two are not related in any way.
It isn’t what life throws at you (that happens to each of us) but how you deal with it, that matters. We all get bad luck, tragedy and trauma but some are far better able to overcome this than others.
