No doubt utter chaos for ferry traffic…
And utter devastation for the man’s family…
Sod the ferry traffic
Martin Shoebridge. Words fail me!
Show some respect before making insenseitive comments like this.
Hope all involved make a full recovery.
No concern for the poor people involved, not to mention our wonderful emergency services! Never mind, you just think about the ferry disruption!
I notice our island police standing directing traffic in the middle of the road wearing half of his police issue uniform (no hat, epaulets) and looking like he was dragged from a hedge. In addition and more importantly no high vis jacket. This seems common place over here really needs to be addressed.
I notice the county press is showing a picture of the officer in question clearly breaching health and safety.
Perhaps if a police offer was injured because of not wearing the correct kit then the senior officers might take notice. I don’t understand they the individual officers don’t want to take all reasonable steps to ensure their own safety. Obviously they’ve never had a close shave with a speeding vehicle or a driver who is so unaware that there is a police officer standing in the road – I have!
I wouldn’t care what he’s wearing as long as he’s helping out! You don’t know the circumstances he may have been passing off duty or any number of reasons but I’m sure what he was wearing was the last thing on his mind if he was helping out and someone’s life was hanging in the balance.
Shut up ffs they’re responding to an accident and having to stand around directing traffic having to continually explain the road is blocked it’s obvious they are police who cares if they’ve got hi vis on let alone a sodding hat
He will care when he gets run over and is found to be at fault. The police are accountable and this stinks of sloppy policing.
He was working his socks off, we took him a drink as he was so hot
Sarah Cupcake, Local expert and consultant on everything, the fact that you saw it was a police person, matters not. They got off their ass and tried to help other motorists including you. What a grateful expert you are.
Perhaps one day it will be you needing assistance from the emergency services, I don’t think you will worry then if a police officer, paramedic or firefighter is wearing a high viz or a thong, provided they can help or protect you, just because someone isn’t wearing a high viz it doesn’t mean they are bad at their job, it often means they are more interested in potentially saving or protecting life. If you have never done the job don’t make stupid pathetic comments, it just shows your ignorance.
Not knowing the circumstances all I can wish is that the serous injuries sustained are not life threatening or life changing. That bend by the entrance/exit to Quarr Abbey can be a bit dodgy for drivers pulling out onto the main road.
Police are only allowing vehicles that have a ferry to catch at fishbourne
How gracious of them to lift the punishment for some.
What rubbish to close a road for hours. Now we have cameras and instant data, no need for such.
I work with the bloke. Only found out who it was just now so all my hopes and prayers go to him
Was he on a motorbike? Is he ok that bend is so dangerous
Jane . Why is that bend dangerous.. if you drive as you should it’s not a problem at all .. hope all involved make a speedy and full recovery
Jane, the bloke I work with was the tesco driver. Thankfully, he was released hours after with whiplash
