UPDATED: Blackwater Road between Shide and Blackwater has been closed by Police following a road traffic collision this morning (Thursday).
The incident has taken place near to Newclose Cricket Ground and is thought to involve 2 vehicles.
Police and ambulance crews are on scene.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE @ 08:59 – Up to 3 vehicles have been involved in a rear-end shunt on Blackwater Road, not St George’s Way as first advised by Police.
Island Echo understands the shunt occurred after a bus stopped.
No one is thought to have been seriously injured in the incident, although the occupants of the cars are said to be shook up.
Southern Vectis are advising of delays to Route 2 and 3 buses.
Traffic is heavily delayed in the area.
UPDATE @ 09:30 – Blackwater Road has now reopened in both directions., although traffic remains heavy in the area.
1 person has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital and 2 have been treated at the scene.
