UPDATED: Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision on Brocks Copse Road between Wootton and Whippingham this afternoon (Thursday), where a Mercedes car has left the carriageway, mounted a verge and ploughed into woodland.
Two appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene at around 15:20 after the red Mercedes left the road.
Fears were raised that the male driver was trapped inside his vehicle, however amazingly no one has been seriously injured in the incident with injuries being described as ‘minor’. The casualty has not required extrication from the vehicle.
The road remains closed whilst recovery of the single vehicle is arranged.
UPDATE @ 15:40 – The road has now reopened to traffic in both directions.
One male has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries.
The vehicle has been recovered from the scene by Bartletts Service Station.
