A lorry has overturned onto its side, coming to rest in a field, on Marshcombe Shute near Brading – which has been partially closed by Police. The incident occurred at around 07:00 this morning (Tuesday) and has seen a mainland delivery lorry leave the carriageway. The driver has not been injured in the single vehicle incident and was able to free himself from the cab. It appears the vehicle – which was travelling towards Yarbridge – clipped the grass verge and was pulled in, toppling over onto the left hand side.
Police have closed the road for all traffic travelling between Yarbridge and Yaverland, but have re-opened Morton Common (which was closed due to flooding) for those travelling towards Sandown. Traffic is still able to travel from Yaverland towards Yarbridge and Brading but there are delays building. Recovery of the truck will take time and space, which is likely to lead to the full closure of Marshcombe Shute for a time later on.
