Van Mossel Esplanade is marking a historic milestone for employee Nigel Smith, a cornerstone of the dealership’s operations, who is celebrating an incredible 50 years of service with the company.
Nigel, the former Manager of the former Esplanade Car Rental and Accident Repair Centre in Ryde, technically ‘retired’ 2 years ago, but his commitment to the team has never wavered.
Transitioning into a support role, Nigel remains an essential part of the daily operations at Van Mossel Esplanade.
Over the past 5 decades, Nigel has become a familiar face to colleagues and customers alike. In his current capacity, he assists by delivering vehicles to customers across the UK, often at short notice. He also helps take care of onsite maintenance at the Cowes showroom, ensuring the grounds remain in pristine condition.
Brendan Cole, Head of Business, says:
“Nigel is a truly valued and much-loved member of the Van Mossel Esplanade family.
“Reaching a 50-year milestone is a phenomenal achievement, but the fact that he continues to contribute his expertise to our team makes this celebration even more special.”
In an era where career longevity is increasingly rare, Nigel’s 50-year tenure stands as a testament to his loyalty and the culture at Van Mossel Esplanade. His colleagues describe him as a source of inspiration, citing his kindness and unwavering dedication as his defining traits.
Van Mossel Esplanade extends its deepest gratitude to Nigel for his decades of commitment and looks forward to his continued presence within the team.

Well done Nigel, let’s hope future generations can
