The Isle of Wight Centre of the Caravan and Motorhome Club was proud to present a cheque for £1,019 to Daisy Chains IW Children’s Charity earlier this week (Tuesday 3rd December).
Each year the centre chooses a small charity with local links to support and our members through donations, raffles and social events collect over the year for that charity.
This year the cheque was presented by our outgoing chairman Jeff Johnson and Social Secretary Michelle Humm to representatives of Daisy Chain IW, Mandy Fuller and Kellie Lawrence.
Daisy Chains IW is an Island based charity, founded in 2012, by a group of Island parents who have children that have been affected by long term/life limiting illness or disability.
The main focus of the charity has become the travel needs of affected families, especially those needing to get to mainland hospitals for urgent and sometimes life changing treatment.
More recently the need for support to parents of premature babies has grown hugely as the Island’s NICU unit has been downgraded and mainland stays for babies born before 35 weeks can be anything from a week to several months.
More information about the charity can be found on their website: https://daisychainsiw.wixsite.com/daisychainsiw and on their Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/daisychains.iw.

I thought Bernard Cribbins was dead. But there he is, alive and well, handing out cheques. Top wombling man.
