Local author Jan Wright’s book ‘A Different Way of Life’ has raised over £1,200 for Mountbatten, the Isle of Wight’s hospice care provider.
The collection of 20 short stories celebrates Island life while supporting vital end-of-life care.
Jan began writing in the 1990s while running Wright Estate Agency with her husband Phil. Her stories have appeared in Woman’s Weekly, My Weekly and Take a Break.
Jan said:
“I’ve always enjoyed writing short stories.
“Mountbatten made a difficult time a little easier, so I wanted to give back.”
Inspired by the charity’s support for friends over the years, Jan compiled her work into a book, with all profits going to Mountbatten Isle of Wight.
Priced at £6, some readers have donated upwards of £30 per copy.
Jan added:
“It’s a charity book, so every donation makes a difference.
“I hope it brings a little joy to those who read it.”
A Different Way of Life is on sale at Mountbatten hospice shops, Medina Book Shop in Cowes, Godshill Post Office, Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club, or from Jan and Phil direct. It is also available on www.amazon.co.uk.
