The once-popular Brighstone Christmas Tree Festival will not be making a return, the event’s organiser has announced.
The festival arrived on the scene back in 1997 and ran successfully for a number of years, growing with every passing Christmas. It started off with around 30 trees being displayed but that number snowballed to over 250 in recent years, across 8 different locations.
It was last run in 2019, with 2020’s and 2021’s staging cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. Across its 22 years, the event raised around £150,000 for charity.
Organiser Chris Goodman has said that he can no longer run the event and with no one else coming forward, Chris says the event won’t be returning. He has been at the helm for some 18 years.
Chris has said in a statement:
“It saddens me to have to report that no one has come forward to take on the role of organiser. Having done so for nearly 20 years and due to my health (and age!) I have had to ‘retire’ from the role.
“Thanks to everyone who has supported, displayed, visited the festival in past years. I am sorry that the time has come for me to ‘hang up my spurs'”.
Isle of Wight Pearl will host a mini version of the festival with trees in their venue on the Military Road near Brighstone.

Ok now is the time. Yes you are all going to give me a hard time. Think about the energy that we all will waste at Christmas. Lights hanging over homes. Do the right thing.save the power.and the cost to your household. Instead paying out to power companies. Give it to the old people who will suffer. I know all are not poor but there are some on the island. Ok let’s have it.
Stop drinking and start working
Go away. I’m not ruining my kids Christmas just because you think we should all self flagulate.
No don’t do that.
ruining there lives going forward. Rosser
Do you really think your children’s Christmas would be ruined by not having Christmas tree lights, Danger Mouse? Why not put the tree up and help them make Chinese lanterns and home-made paper decorations for it like we did as kids? Great fun and then can have fun recyling the paper.
Think about all this fuel prices still sky high
Elec and gas going through the roof ,are the government worried if we heat or eat no no no they ain’t
fuel prices sky high = less people wasting fuel as can’t afford it just to go out joy riding = cutting emissions ,tick in government box
gas And elec price soaring =people will have to use less to be able to afford it = government not sucking up to Putin ,tick in governments box .
all these things are done by our bullying, deceitful untrustworthy government who only look after themselves and big buck earners who whatever the government do won’t make them cold or go hungry
Such a shame old normal is never returning to the world
