A travel agency based on the Isle of Wight has ceased trading after going into liquidation, it has been confirmed.
Lighthouse Travel, which had operated from the Isle of Wight for a number of years, officially closed its doors on Monday 17th November due to financial pressures linked to the current economic climate.
Rumours of the closure had been circulating for some weeks but it was at the weekend that notice was placed on the Lighthouse Travel website.
The operator held several large contracts including with Ryde School.
Island Echo understands that as many as 8 drivers have lost their jobs as a result. The total number of redundancies – including administrative staff – that have been made is unclear.
A statement shared on the Lighthouse Travel website, said:
“We would like to thank all of our loyal customers over the years and all of your continuing support through this difficult time.”
Island Echo contacted Lighthouse Travel Ltd for a statement some weeks ago, however at the time of publication, no response has been received.

Such a shame, another one bites the dust.
Just 3 and half more years with this Labour Government
at the helm!
Makes one wonder what the state of the country will
be by 2029.
Nothing to do with Labour government. Poor management. And historical ineptitude from the person who ‘ran’ the company in it’s previous guise.
Maximum of 1352 days with these clowns at the wheel.Hopefully half this amount if election forced in 2027. Liebor putting people on the dole.
Let’s have a nice picture of smug Quigley alongside the owner and staff saying what a good job he is doing.
tbh this company was going to fail right from the start when they were ISLAND COACH SERVICES LTD as certain people who were in charge were quite happy to brake the law especially for the drivers I remember being asked to start at 9am and finish the next morning at 4am completely illegal but 1 manager didn’t like it if you questioned him about it
