Lemon Jelly Press, a not-for-profit community publisher based on the Isle of Wight, has launched The Silly Sentence Club – a series of joyful and engaging online creative writing sessions for children aged 8 -12, running every Tuesday from 29th July.
These fun, low-pressure Zoom workshops are designed to bring the joy back to writing and reading – perfect for children of all abilities, especially those who’ve lost a bit of confidence or find English lessons tricky.
With a focus on creativity, silliness, and self-expression, each session offers a gentle way to top-up literacy skills during the long summer break.
Each session costs just £3, and siblings are welcome to share a screen, so only one ticket is needed per household.
Expect silly stories, nonsense poetry, and lots of laughter – all while quietly building children’s writing skills and confidence.

“We know not every child thrives in formal English lessons, so this is about playful learning, confidence-building, and remembering that words can be fun.”
