Ryde Inshore Rescue were called into action on the other side of the Solent earlier this evening (Thursday).
An overdue dinghy sparked concern shortly before 21:15 and resulted in the mainland-based Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team and the Island’s own independent lifeboat being called into action.
The vessel was located by the Coastguard Rescue Team at Lee-on-Solent.
Working with Ryde Rescue, the dinghy was safely recovered to the shore.
Tonight’s shout was somewhat of a rare tasking for the volunteer crew to the Lee-on-Solent area, which is normally covered by Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue (GAFIRS).
