Conservative councillor Tig Outlaw has handed in his resignation as County Councillor for Lake North, it has been confirmed.
Cllr Outlaw was first elected to the Isle of Wight Council in 2017 and was re-elected in May 2021. He became a Cabinet member for Community Safety and Public Protection, but stepped down in November 2019 due to work committments.
But news that this year’s local elections have been postponed has led Tig to decide to resign, as he cannot commit to another year in office.
Tig lived in Lake for 24 years but left the Isle of Wight in 2024 due to personal reasons. He still works in Sandown, however.
Tig has blasted the Labour Government and the Alliance administration in a statement, stating:
“I consider the decision to cancel the elections as an attack on democracy by the Labour Government, and one which the Island’s ruling Independent Alliance were only too keen to support.
“Residents across the Island should not have been denied the chance to vote this year”.
Tig concludes:
“It has been an honour to serve the community of Lake where I lived for 24 years and love to this day”.

I have never seen Tig Outlaw.
I didn’t even realise this is what he looked like.
Paul Brading of Lake South is the only Conservative who turns up to stuff in Lake (Indeed I had to check you hadn’t got the 2 Lake representatives the wrong way around such is the abscence of My Outlaw over the last 4 years in Lake North.

Any councillor with integrity ought to step down , and so force an election in their ward. Allow democracy to over rule the Labour government’s attempt to prevent the public voice from being heard.
It’s a myth we are living in a democratic country.
The public voice WAS heard when they were voted in….and that’s democracy.
