A car has mounted the pavement and collided with both a motorcycle and another vehicle in the car park of St Mary’s Hospital this morning (Thursday).
The incident has occurred in the North car park at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport.
It is understood that a silver Kia Ceed mounted the pavement when exiting the car park, knocking over a parked motorcycle in the process before continuing into the roadway.
The vehicle then collided with the front of a silver Ford Fiesta, which was just arriving at the hospital car park at the time.
The circumstances leading up to the collision are currently unclear.

To be fair there seems to be little if none motorcycle parking. Even know more and more people use motorcycles now
All with L plates on
Bellend
At least they are legal, are you?
More bad driving on the Iow
Yet another example of how bad driving standards are in the Isle of Wight.
I would stake any amount of money that the driver of this vehicle is a)over 70 and b)was driving slower than 20 MPH, proving that 20MPH speed limits are a total waste of time unless it is outside schools at entry and egress times.
Instead of having Q&A Zoom sessions, Donna Jones should be lobbying for compulsory re-testing for ALL drivers every 5 years.
It is not speed that causes most of the accidents.
It is sheer stupidity and incompetent driving that does it.

You can make your suggestion here – though it is online.

And as the armchair RTC critic you have all the evidence do you, i think not.
Are you a relative of the other armchair critic, the NUMPTY, enough is enough lol.
Some people don’t like to hear the truth
Bless you Numpty
WTF HOW? I Agree totally that person should not be driving? Thats 2 people’s vehicles prob a right off now, the person should pay for the vehicles that were damaged as they were parked minding their own business and that happens??
They were coming out of the north car park in the hospital! I should hope they were driving less than 20!! READ THE ARTICLE
20mph is plenty, Southampton are
implementing 20mph in 30 streets.
Why not every 3 years, or maybe every other year. Testing requires testers, testers require paying and training and there just aren’t the necessary people or the money to pay them. Or train them, or periodically test them to ensure that their testing is up to standard. Then there’s the problem of who trains the testers of the testers and where does the money come to pay them and so the whole system collapses.
I would stake any amount of money that your ‘solution’ just reflects your personal prejudices.
More utter crap driving..shouldn’t be on the road..definitely not on the pavement.
Pavement parking on the island just like speeding is rife.
They have CCTV in the car park
CCTV is only any good if it’s being monitored
I cannot see anywhere it mentioning age of the driver…?? silly comments made with no knowledge/evidence shows a lack of intelligence and a capacity to spread fake news!
Well said, until it’s established what exactly has happened, judgmental comments are just spiteful speculation.
Yeah he lives near me. In his 90s. Had this license revoked, police showed up last week to take it off him.
I don’t know the age of the driver, that’s irrelevant, it’s careless driving at any age. As for the agest comments well I am 81 years old and I would pit my driving against anyone. Having said that I have always believed that once you reach a certain age you said take an effiency test, not a drivng test, but a test to make sure your eyesight is up to reqiirements and you are of sound mind perhaps every 3 years. There are 81year olds and 81 year olds and a vast difference in capabilies in between..
He is in his 90s. Lives down my road.
