A duo of Isle of Wight brothers are set to take on a monster 500-mile challenge to cycle from Largs in Scotland to East Cowes – and it starts in just 2 weeks!
The challenge was originally first conceived in 2018 by now 19-year-old Nicholas Early, who at the time was recovering from a stem cell transplant as part of his treatment to battle Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Originally scheduled for May 2020, the challenge was postponed until May 2021 and then further postponed until August due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Joining Nicholas on the challenge will be his brother, Matthew Earley. Together, the team has been training for the challenge for over a year by taking part in local events such as the Chessel Chase and conducting long and challenging cycle rides – using the Island’s hilly terrain to their advantage.
Now, final preparations are being made for the challenge, with the team set to make the journey to Largs in the West of Scotland to behind their 500mile adventure on the 29th August.
So far, the challenge – which is in aid of the EllenMacarthur Cancer Trust – has raised £1,640 of its £2,000 target.
