Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the police investigation into missing Joanna Orpin has now concluded.
Formal identification procedures have been completed as a result of Joanna’s body being positively identified. The matter has now been passed to the Isle of Wight coroner, Caroline Sumeray.
As previously reported by Island Echo, a woman’s body washed up on the water’s edge at Chichester on Saturday some 5 days after Joanna went missing from her home in Ryde.
Family members would like to thank everyone involved for the extensive, dedicated and committed search for Joanna which involved no less than 4 Coastguard Rescue Teams, the Coastguard helicopter, Bembridge RNLI, Selsey RNLI, Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, multiple Police officers, specialist search advisors and dogs, the National Police Air Service helicopter, Hampshire Police Marine Unit, WightSAR, Lowland SAR drone unit and West Sussex Fire and Rescue’s Technical Rescue Team.
