Police have launched a large-scale investigation after a jewellers, corner shop, community honesty shop and containers were targeted on the Isle of Wight overnight.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that it is investigating a series of burglaries that occurred during the early hours of this morning (Friday).
Between 02:00 and 02:30, containers on land in Wootton were broken into. Then, just a short time later, money was stolen from the Little Cow Shed on Main Road, Havenstreet.
A thief, armed with a crowbar, was caught on CCTV appearing outside the much-loved honesty shop in a silver Ford Ranger pick-up. He went inside and used the crowbar to force open a money box before driving away with the cash contained within.
Then, between 04:00 and 05:00, Ultra Stores on Clarendon Street in Newport was broken into with a large quantity of tobacco products stolen.
What is thought to be the same Ford Ranger pick-up sighted at Havenstreet was then captured on CCTV ramming the front of Sandown Jewellers on High Street, Sandown, causing significant damage to roller shutters and a glass window.
No items were stolen, with the shutters preventing access to the shop.
The news comes just days after 2 laundrettes in Newport fell victim to crime, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Enquiries remain ongoing, which will include establishing links to any further offences.

The problem is, even if they do manage to catch the Low Life who did this, when, and IF, they get to Court there will be some terrible personal tragedy/ailment which meant that they couldn’t help themselves (no pun intended)…
They’ll be let off with warning or, AT WORST, some do called Community Service…
Meanwhile the businesses /charities will be left out if pocket and probably be saddled with higher insurance premiums!
