The driver of a Jaguar has been arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving following a crash on Bleak Down on Saturday.
It was just before 18:00 that Police, fire and ambulance crews were mobilised to Niton Road, between the villages of Rookley and Niton, following reports of a 2-vehicle road traffic collision, as first reported by Island Echo.
Emergency personnel arrived on scene to discover a black Jaguar X-Type with significant damage having come face-to-face with a Ford Transit van travelling in the opposite direction, resulting in the van’s offside wheel being ripped off.
Thankfully, no serious injuries were inflicted as a result of the crash. The male and female occupants of the van walked away from the scene unscathed.
However, the driver of the Jaguar was arrested by Police after initially being treated by paramedics.
Island Echo is told that members of the public helped the now-arrested driver out of the vehicle via the passenger door due to the damage sustained to the driver’s side.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that a 43-year-old man from Ventnor was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and drug driving.
Enquiries are ongoing at this time.
The guy that had his van written off by this piss/snort should take him to court with a private prosecution for damages, losses and expenses as the innocent party. The courts won’t get him any compensation, the do gooders will see to that. Why should he end up out of pocket
It’s about time drink and drug drivers were banged up.
The country needs to get tough on these uneducated
Numpty’s.
