The Isle of Wight Youth Trust has been crowned the overall winner of the 2025 GSK IMPACT Awards in recognition of its vital work supporting the mental health of young people across the Island.
The Newport-based charity was honoured at a ceremony in London on Thursday 15th May, receiving £50,000 in funding and access to training and support from The King’s Fund.
The GSK IMPACT Awards, now in their 28th year, recognise small and medium-sized charities making a significant impact on health and wellbeing across the UK.
IOWYT impressed judges with its early intervention work, strong local partnerships and efforts to make support more accessible to children and young people across the Isle of Wight. Last year, the charity supported over 1,300 young people through 5,315 sessions, including play therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and school outreach in 40 Island schools.
The charity was also commended for its new ‘Hub’ in Newport, which offers drop-in sessions, practical advice, and peer support in a high street setting.
Jo Dare, Chief Executive of IOWYT, said the award was a ‘huge honour’ and ‘a testament to the dedication’ of staff and young people who shape the services.
Isle of Wight West MP Richard Quigley praised the charity’s achievement, saying:
“It’s not just a reward for all the hard work the Isle of Wight Youth Trust does but also recognition of the additional issues we have on the Island. Winning this award lifts all of us up”.
