Green Isle of Wight Director, Lisa Beaney will begin an extraordinary solo trek across the Scottish Highlands next week (15th May), walking from Fort William to Aviemore through the heart of the Cairngorms to raise money for the Alzheimer Café on the Isle of Wight.
Undertaking the journey completely alone, Lisa will carry everything she needs in her backpack – including food, camping gear, and a water filter to safely drink from mountain streams.
With much of the route far from civilisation, she’ll have no mobile phone signal and will be wild camping in remote locations each night.
Speaking on the challenge, Lisa has said:
“This is the most physically and mentally demanding thing I’ve ever done,”
“But I’m doing it to support the Alzheimer Café, which does vital work helping people affected by dementia here on the Isle of Wight. It’s a cause I really care about – and I want every mile I walk to help raise awareness and funds for them.”
The Alzheimer Café provides a safe and welcoming space for people living with dementia, their families, and carers – offering support, advice, and a friendly community. The charity relies on donations to keep its services running.
Lisa expects the trek to take 6 days, covering some of Scotland’s wildest and most beautiful terrain. She’s inviting people to support her efforts by donating through her JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/lisa-beaney
Every donation helps the Alzheimer Café continue its vital work.

Best of luck on your great mission.
I certainly hope she can raise much more than the suggested target as this is a heartbreaking illness please let’s get behind her
