The Isle of Wight NHS Trust has postponed its Summer Fete – planned for this Saturday (23rd July) – due to the potential fire risk caused by the recent heatwave.
The ground is extremely dry at St Mary’s Hospital and holding this type of event poses a significant fire hazard, the Trust says.
Significant rainfall is expected tomorrow (Friday).
The Trust has said that they are aware that this is not welcome news and that members of the public and staff alike will be disappointed and have thanked those who were involved and apologised to anyone who may be inconvenienced by their decision.
