Dominic Marsh from the Panther Kickboxing Club has taken bronze at the WAKO (World Association of Kickboxing Organisations) World Cup in Italy.
The Isle of Wight kickboxer – who has recently come back from injury – had to lose 8 kilograms to compete in his weight category before the start of the competition.
Dominic defeated an Italian opponent in the World Cup Quarter final. Sadly, he then lost to the Norwegian World No 2 at the semi final stage.
Steven Marsh said of Dominic’s performance in Italy:
“I’m super proud of you, son for taking on this tournament with less than 2 weeks preparation on the back of an injury and an 8kg weight loss.
“It’s been a big learning curve for us all, and you still came away with a win and a bronze medal.”
Dominic said:
“From not knowing if I can fight the rest of the year to having 2 fights in one day has been an eventful 2 weeks.”
“I want to take a moment to sincerely thank my sponsors for their incredible support throughout my kickboxing journey. Your belief in me and your generous contributions have made a significant difference in my training and competition experiences.
“I am truly grateful for your partnership and encouragement, which motivate me to push my limits and strive for excellence every day. Thank you for being an essential part of my journey!”
