Generous volunteers across the Isle of Wight recently joined team members at Lower Hyde, Landguard, Nodes Point and Thorness Bay holiday parks to take part in the Great British Beach Clean.
Held between Friday 16th and Sunday 25th September, the event was run by the Marine Conservation Society to aid conversation work and help keep our seas clean.
4 bags of litter were collected, weighing in at a total of 5.9kg – or more than 13lbs. This data will help further the Marine Conservation Society’s conservation work and will also be included in the International Coastal Clean-up.
Owned by Parkdean Resorts, Lower Hyde, Landguard, Nodes Point and Thorness Bay holiday parks were amongst the 36 other Parkdean sites across England, Scotland and Wales that also took part in similar beach clean events, where volunteers came together to pick up litter found along the coast.
Jane Bates, Head of Sustainability and Procurement, Parkdean Resorts, said:
“We’re committed to protecting our environment at Parkdean Resorts, and we’re thrilled to be participating in the Great British Beach Clean once again this year. Lats year’s event was a huge success, and we’re hoping for another fantastic turnout this year. It’s hugely important for us to protect our seas and beaches, and we’re thrilled to be able to contribute to the Marine Conservation Society’s ongoing work.”
