Local animal charity Friends of the Animals has been celebrating its 35th birthday this week.
Since their founding in 1990, Friends of the Animals has spent several million pounds on veterinary treatment, re-homed around 10,000 animals, spayed/neutered 45,000 animals and provided life-saving treatment for countless others.
They’ve also used, or donated, nearly 2 million items of pet food.
The local charity claim they have never been so busy, with their phones constantly ringing. Friends of the Animals are often an animals last chance of survival in life and death situations.
FOTA currently have premises on Riverway in Newport, High Street in Ryde and High Street in Sandown.
Friends of the Animals finder, Helen Sinclair, has said:
“My heartfelt gratitude goes to our staff, volunteers, supporters, patrons, trustees and my lovely husband Martin for his 7 days a week commitment. Collectively, you make it happen”.
With continued support and fundraising, the charity hope to go on for many years come.
Anyone who is a friend of the the animal kingdom is a friend of mine
