The Isle of Wight Book Awards 2022 Charity Lunch was held at the Island Sailing Club in Cowes last Wednesday (12th October), with Kenneth Hicks revealed as the overall winner.
The lunch kicked off with a glass of bubbly. Guests mingled on the balcony over the harbour ahead of a short presentation by Nigel Hartley of Mountbatten. Names of all those who then made their donations were drawn from a hat with plenty of raffle prizes including a bottle of champagne, a meal for 2 at The Heron in Ryde, a meal for 2 at The Dell plus a ride for 2 at Wight Karting.
2 nationally known authors, Alan Titchmarsh and Hunter Davies, talked about the books entered into the awards across 3 categories: fiction, nonfiction and children’s books.
Everyone on the shortlists received a certificate for their efforts, with the winners each getting £100. Kenneth Hicks received £500 courtesy of David and Patsy Franks of Cowes.
