A new networking event kicked off at Seaclose Park last week with more than 60kg of rubbish collected by 25 attendees.
‘Rubbish Networking’ is a series of brand new litter picking events happening on the Island throughout 2022. Attendees can chat to like-minded people whilst collecting litter in a pre-selected area of the Isle of Wight.
With support from local businesses including French Franks and Betapak, the first event at Seaclose Park in Newport was a success and a great display of Island community spirit.
Organiser, Matt Greg, comments:
“The principle of this event is very simple: bring the community together and pick up rubbish. Yet, the climate problem we face is complex. It’s hard to see how collecting a few bags of rubbish solves it. But perhaps by combining several simple ideas we can make a big impact. That’s the goal of Rubbish Networking. We’d love to see you join us.”
The next event is planned for Earth Day on 22nd April, starting from Ryde Harbour. It’s free to attend with all equipment provided.
