This Christmas, Islanders are being asked to donate to the fundraiser of Cassidy Ley, a 20-year-old woman from Ventnor who has just months to live.
Cassidy suffers from a plethora of painful, terminal medical conditions including dilated cardiomyopathy, ventricular tachycardia, chronic fatigue and a rare, terminal skin condition.
The 20-year-old is soon to head off to Naomi House & Jacksplace on the mainland for some respite care with her pain at the moment described as ‘the worst its ever been’. Cassidy also has the support of Mountbatten here on the Isle of Wight.
Despite all the upheaval and stress in her life, Cassidy has still been having fun, recently enjoying a trip to Amsterdam as well as attending a Taylor Swift concert as part of the singers Eras Tour.
Cassidy’s friend Liz Morris has said:
“This year, instead of sending Christmas cards, I’m donating to a cause close to my heart: supporting my incredible friend, Cassie Ley. Cassidy and her family are going through an unimaginably tough time.
“Cassidy has asked me to thank all of my friends who have already donated generously. Despite her condition she really does life life to the full and previous donations have enabled her to buy much needed equipment to make her more comfortable and enjoy many precious moments with her loved ones including trips to the theatre and mini-breaks.
“If you’d like to skip the cards this year and help make a real difference, please consider donating to her GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/70bfd34a”
