An Isle of Wight woman who reached the final of the BBC’s brand new quiz show Celebrity Inner Circle has walked away with nothing after a dramatic ending saw her fellow contestant take the entire £6,500 prize pot.
Zoë Bushby, a trainee lawyer born and raised on the Isle of Wight, appeared on Saturday night’s episode (25th October) of the Amanda Holden-fronted show. She was paired with comedian and actor Stephen Bailey and successfully navigated several rounds of strategic gameplay to make it to the final.
The former Christ the King College student went on the show hoping to win money to help pay for her upcoming wedding. She and her fiancé, Alfie Downey, also from the Isle of Wight, have been dating since they were 15 and recently got engaged after nearly 9 years together.
In the nail-biting final, Zoë chose to split the £6,500 prize pot with fellow finalist Jon, who was partnered with comedian Maisie Adam. However, Jon decided to shaft, meaning he walked away with the full amount – and Zoë was left with nothing.
Celebrity Inner Circle sees 6 members of the public team up with celebrities in a tense battle of wits and trust, with only one pair making it to the final. Contestants must bluff, vote, and strategise their way through multiple rounds while only knowing the value of their own randomly assigned cash stash.
Other celebrities taking part in the Saturday’s episode included Charlotte Hawkins, Jason Mohammad, Sam Quek and Ricky Wilson.
